Young singers from Storrington Primary School joined thousands of others in Young Voices 'Sing Up' this January held at the O2, London. The aim of the event organisers is 'to organise a musical experience for children that they will benefit from and remember for the rest of their lives'. It is a truly extraordinary and magical experience - well done to all our pupils who took part!
Children and staff at Storrington Primary School dressed in their Pyjamas and got baking for Children in Need and raised over £450 for the charity. Thank you to everyone who donated and Year 3 for their cooking.
March was all about books, reading and writing! It started with World Book Day at the beginning of the month when pupils and staff dressed up as different and amazing characters. A week later pupils enjoyed an inspiring visit from author M P Robertson who shared with us his passion for drawing and storytelling. Our Year 5 journalists write regularly for the local Three Heralds and enjoyed an informative meeting with magazine editor Amanda Hislop: the agenda included topics such as choosing the right headline, the importance of pictures and creating an interesting article.Young singers from Storrington First School joined thousands of others in Young Voices 'Sing Up' this January held at the O2, London. Storrington First School raised £329.14 for the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal - we were delighted to have raised such a wonderful sum. Thank you to everyone who donated.
Wonderful New Playground for Storrington First School!
Thanks to Tesco Bags of Help and FOSS we have an amazing new playground for our KS1 pupils. There's also a wonderful new climbing frame/playhouse for pupils joining us in Reception. A BIG thank you to everyone who supported us, voted for us and donated time or money - our new playground is absolutely fantastic!
St Barnabas House - St B's School Project
St Barnabas House is piloting St B's, an exciting new initiative for local schools. The project involves children going to the Day Hospice to work on an art project with patients who are under the care of St Barnabas. There's more information and pictures under our community section.
We were delighted to welcome Olympic Gold Medalist, Duncan Goodhew, to the school earlier this month. Our pupils enjoyed an afternoon of different sporting activities - and got the chance to hold a real Gold Medal!
Some of our pupils enjoyed helping plant flowers in the village in preparation for Storrington in Bloom during the summer term.
Congratulations to our Eco Team for gaining their second Green Flag award at our Eco Schools inspection in January.
