Forest School

An active, innovative, educational approach to outdoor play and learning…

The concept of Forest School was born in Scandinavia where they found that by taking learning outdoors children became confident, resilient and independent learners. We believe that Forest School supports childrens’ self esteem, wellbeing, behaviour and problem solving skills – all of which have positive impact on pupil learning in the classroom. From woodland craftwork, building dens, environmental art, telling stories around a campfire to making tools (and mud pies for the younger pupils!) Forest School delivers amazing experiences for children of all ages. We have a trained Forest School leader, dedicated Forest School site on the school grounds and authorised access to local woodland within easy walking distance.

Forest School An active, innovative, educational approach to outdoor play and learning… “Forest School is an inspirational process, that offers ALL learners regular opportunities to achieve and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland or natural environment with trees.” Forest School Association.

Children enjoy outdoor learning sessions as part of their curriculum entitlement. They learn to light fires, whittle, build dens and much more.
