Welcome to Year 6!
We are so grateful to have a wonderful cohort of Year 6 learners, who have enthusiastically started the school year.
We have a brilliant list of topics ahead of us, covering the breadth of both history and geography.
We delve into the Arts through our coverage of wonderful texts and literature, in addition to our upcoming Year 6 performance, which is yet to be announced... watch this space!
In Year 6, we have our residential trip to PGL Little Canada, which occured at the end of September - we had a fantastic week of team building, challenging ourselves and, to be honest, having a brilliant time!
We really look forward to working with you and your child this year and hope it is a year that they will create the fondest memories to treasure always.
Topics
Autumn Term 1: Topic Booklet
When it comes to extreme stories about Survival, few can match the true tales of heroism found in this book! Ranging from classics such as Shackleton's expedition to the Antarctic, to more modern exploits, including the adventurer who inspired the movie 127 Hours, these courageous survivors all have one thing in common: an incredible ability to draw on all their strength, bravery and self-belief in order to beat the odds, and live to tell their tales.
Autumn Term 2: Victorians
The unforgettable tale of an orphan in Victorian London, based on the boy whose plight inspired Dr Barnardo to found his famous children's homes. When his mother dies, Jim Jarvis is left all alone in London.
He is sent to the workhouse but quickly escapes, choosing a hard life on the streets of the city over the confines of the workhouse walls. Struggling to survive, Jim finally finds some friends... only to be snatched away and made to work for the remorselessly cruel Grimy Nick, constantly guarded by his vicious dog, Snipe. Will Jim ever manage to be free?
